International Shipping 2021

Since the outbreak of the global pandemic Covid-19, our Standard Shipping Services, EMS, International Air Parcel Service, and Surface Parcel Service were forced to suspending all international shipments from Malaysia.

Unfortunately, more than half a year is passing by, there’s still no update on when they’ll be back to the operation.

Therefore, the only way we could ship internationally is through Express Shipping Services. During these few months, we were constantly finding and testing new express shipping services in order to get one that’s in a great shipping rate while could properly handle and deliver the parcels to our customers.

 

The Shipping Services We Use

Now, we ended up constantly using the TNT Express and the Aramax Express because comparing to the others, the system of these two Express Shipping Services are more stable in handling our parcels to our customers, and the shipping rate is much reasonable at the moment.

We were once recommended and using SF Express for orders specifically from the United States, Canada, and Philipines because of its shipping fee rate. But they’ve drastically increased their shipping rate for the new year of 2021 so we have stopped using it for now.

However, we’ll keep an eye on this service because they did a great job when we were using them and if they do have any promotional period or the price becomes reasonable again, we’ll definitely get back to them.

Since then, we have also tried to use Janio Express but the co-op has failed from the first transaction we made with them. You can read more about our experience with Janio Express here.

 

The Prohibited Items To The Express Shipping Services

So now you know that the only way we could ship internationally is through Express Shipping Services, then you got to know that there are some prohibited items to all Express Shipping Services.

The prohibited items included paints, glues, primers, thinner, powder, etc. So, if you’re placing an order with any of the prohibited items and select “Express Shipping” to checkout, we’ll unable to proceed further.

In this case, you’ll be given two options in our email, 1.) Waiting for the Surface Parcel Service (the only way we could ship the prohibited items) to get back to the operation to proceed further – if you’re going for this option, we’ll secure your order and notify you once the shipping service becomes available to proceed further and 2.) Cancel the order and fully refund.

Either way, we’re happy to proceed with your order as you wish and your understanding would be greatly appreciated.

 

“What If, I’d Like To Use The Standard Shipping Service To Ship My Orders?”

Lastly, if you’re willing to wait for the Standard Shipping Service to get back to the operation to ship your orders. Simply select “Combine Shipping’ as your shipping option to checkout and leave us a note on the checkout page like “I’m willing to wait for the Standard shipping Service to resume to proceed further” or anything related.

With your note, we’ll secure your order(s) and notify you once the service is back.

Otherwise, if you’re just selected “Combine Shipping” without any notes, we’ll assume that you’d like to combine other orders, and not about waiting for the Standard Shipping Services to get back to the operation. So, we’ll not notify you once the Standard Shipping Service is back.

Our Experience With Janio Express: We Decided To Stop Using It

Since the last blog post, it’s been a while that we haven’t updated our blog.

Today, I’d like to share our experience with Janio Express and why we’ve decided to no longer using it.

As you might not know, we’re not dealing with the courier services directly, except the SF Express. We’re using a 3rd-party courier platform to quote the necessary shipping fees, manage and arrange the shipments.

The 3rd-party courier platform will provide the available shipping services based on the receiver’s destination and the sender’s destination. From there, we noticed that Janio Express has a really good shipping rate for most countries so we started to have this option available for our customers.

And the sad news begins from the first order we’ve placed with them…

Starting from 11/1/2021, Janio Express should come to our store to pick up the first orders we’ve made to transit further. But… no one is coming so we started to report the case and asking for a re-schedule for the next day.

On 12/1/2021, we were waiting for the whole day at our store. The same thing happened, no one comes for the pick-up and not even a phone call to confirm that they’ve received our request. We continued to report the case and asked for a re-schedule for the next day with another new order we have for tomorrow.

The same things happen until 14/1/2021, we wait for the Janio Express to come for the pick up while keep reporting the case, and hopefully, we could successfully co-operate with them since their shipping rate is great for our customers during this global pandemic.

But 4 days passing by from the first order we made with them until today there’s no response, no email, no phone call on what happening. Therefore, we decided to cancel all the orders you’ve made with them and switch to another available shipping service, Aramax Express, or TNT Express.

Based on these few days of experience, we decided to no longer have this option available again to avoid any problematic shipment happened. We believe their system is still being very unstable and we afraid they couldn’t handle our orders properly and deliver the parcel to our customers as securely as promised.

So, for all customers who have paid for the Janio Express as their shipping service, we’ll email you the updates and hope you understand.

Disclaimer: This blog post is all about our personal experience with the Janio Express in Malaysia and the decision we made based on our experiences with them. We’re not sure how’s their performance and deliverability in different areas so we don’t recommend taking our experience as your experience of using this service.

What?! The international parcel and EMS are temporary suspension?

This message makes me feel complicated…

The first thing I do when I woke up in the morning, isn’t getting out of my bed and do the morning routine like everyone else.

Instead, I check out my phone for the latest news of the suppliers, the shipping status for my customers, and the updates of our courier partner Pos Malaysia. 

Here’s the message from the official Pos Malaysia: 

“Pos Malaysia’s international mail, parcel and Express Mail Service (EMS) will be suspended to all international destinations except Singapore begins by 3 August 2020 until further notice.

 

The temporary service suspension is due to service impacts related to Covid-19, which include varying levels of restrictions across destination countries on flights, airport closures and cross border services.”

The reason why it makes me feel this way it’s because it means that I couldn’t ship any order to my international customers, or even worse…

“Will they proceed with the parcels that we’ve previously handed over such as the parcels that’s being held at the transit hub or the en routed parcel?”

I got no clue but I will keep doing the necessary procedure in order to keep everyone’s update.

Some customers even email us furiously saying that they’ve purchased items from countries like Japan and China, and they got no problem with the delivery and could received their items as usual. 

I sweated. 

All I could say is that not all countries have regular flights and despatch parcels to every country across the world. As far as the pandemic occurs, China is currently the best regarding to the control of the global pandemic so their shipment has the fastest recovered.

I’m not here to blame or trying to push away the responsibility or anything.

I just want to let you know that I and Museigen Hobby are working around the clock doing everything we can to make the process run smoother, if possible, faster because I want you to get your parcel like you do.

In the meantime, we will keep searching for the new source of courier service to get all of your order delivered. We just seek for some additional time, patient and understanding from you to allow us to make things work.

If you’ve followed with our previous blog post, you’d know that we’ve decided to stop the International Shipment (Neither by Air or by Surface) for 2 weeks in order to better deliver your orders without increasing the worries of your parcel being held at the transit hub without any updates.

After a week (not even two), we found that our courier partner Pos Malaysia has started to manage and handle the majority of our previous parcels that has been held at the transit hub caused by the global pandemic to ship out.

Since the courier service is back to operation as usual, so does we! (I want you to get your parcel like you do)

So we started to arrange orders that has been held by us from the past week, to ship out in order – if this is you, you should have receive your tracking number in your email inbox.

Why We Stopped The International Shipping

 

Now, why do we decided to stop the International Shipping, and what actually happened?

Let us quickly rewind the updates we made over the past few weeks:

On 7th July

We received countless emails over the past few weeks from customers over the globe asking about why their parcel has been “Held At” or being “en route” over a month without any updates on the tracking system. Immediately, we contact our partnered courier service for an investigation.

The reason for the delay is that…

Almost all courier companies are facing increased demand despite the reduced capacity available in the global market 𝐝𝐮𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐛𝐲 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐨 𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬.

These situations result in network changes and temporary service adjustments meaning it requires additional transit time, as well as the intense custom inspection 𝐝𝐮𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐎𝐕𝐈𝐃-𝟏𝟗 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤, especially the countries like Croatia and Canada.

That’s why the status either shows “Held At’ or being “en route” without any update and it resulting in the Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) is no longer accurate and it cannot be taking as a standard.

By this update, we announced that we will temporarily stop the International Shipping to Canada and Croatia in order to avoid the increase of concern for the shipment delay.

On 15th July

After 7 days of the update for the international shipping delay, we announced the good news and bad news.

Good News: After back and forth of contacting and reports for an investigation, we got informed that the International shipping has started to get back on track for most countries. As our customers from the US have started to receive their parcel that sends from May.

Bad News: The parcel from some other countries like Canada is still held at the transit hub. It means they’re still waiting for the shipment.

On late 15th July

We found out that even though the courier service system has back on track but the latest shipment we’ve made to the US over the past week also shows it’s being “held at”.

So we believe Pos Malaysia (our courier service) is managing the previously at held parcel to ship, the latter International parcel will be going through the same process: Dispatched then held at the transit hub without knowing it’s still alive or dead.

In order to save that worried for both of us and you, we decided to hold off the shipment for 2 weeks and allow the courier service to clear the chaos a bit before we hand them your parcel.

Finally, we announce that all orders placed from 14.7.2020 will be automatically on our list of shipment hold off for 2 weeks. Of course, this is flexible, you can request to ship your parcel immediately by leaving us a quick note when checkout.

Conclusion

Basically, that’s what happened and why we decided to stop the International Shipping for 2 weeks but of course.

As we mentioned, this is totally up to you – if you’d like us to ship your orders as soon as possible, we could definitely do it for you without a question asked, simply leave us a quick note when you checkout.
